Peace
and
Justice
Commission
carries
out
the
mission
of
the
congregation
"that
all
may
be
one"
and
works
to
alleviate
the
conditions
that
cause
poverty,
suffering
and
oppression. |
Three
Committees
form
the
Commission:
-
Peace
and
Justice
Committee
works
for
systemic
change
of
the
economic
and
social
structures
that
oppress
all
creation.
This
is
accomplished
by
education,
action,
networking
with
other
justice
groups,
and
by
keeping
before
the
Congregation
the
vision
of
a
just
world.
This
vision
is
based
on
the
Church’s
social
teachings,
the
Gospel
of
Jesus,
and
our
own
Congregation
documents.
Social
Justice
Grant
Fund
awards
grants
annually
for
projects
and
ministries
which
help
relieve
the
conditions
causing
injustice
and
suffering.
Grant
applicants
must
meet
criteria
and
guidelines
established
by
the
Sisters
of
St.
Joseph.
Socially
Responsible
Investment
Committee
assists
the
Congregation
in
accepting
its
responsibilities
as
investors.
They
do
this
by
investing
in
ethical
and
just
companies
while
working
to
change
those
corporate
policies
that
create
conditions
which
harm
any
of
God’s
people
or
creation.
